Have you contacted animal control and the shelters in your area? I doubt this puppy is lacking a home... I'm betting that he went missing... I would post some fliers or something to see if you can't find his owners.

Also, ask for SOMETHING. Don't give him away for free... People can be sneaky.. you don't want him to be a bait dog, go to a bad home, or a labratory setting, do you? Not saying that his WILL happen, but it MIGHT.

Also, personally, I would take him to my local shelter... a cute little lab pup isn't going to stay there long.

maybe in a small town in vermont that would be the way to go about it,but being in the suburbs of atlanta all shelters/no kill shelters are full and most of the time always full, and yes we put out flyers,we have had him for about 2months looking for the owner, that is why im looking to the web for a home, and if you read my post i said i wasnt going to give him to just anyone.

My sister lives in Dahlonega (north of Atlanta for those who don't know the area ). I can ask if she knows of anyone looking for a new pup. She and her husband are animal crazy. They love everything (snakes, ferrets, squirrels) and have rescued many critters in the Dahlonega area over the last 10 years.

I'll mention it to her next week and post a note if she knows of a good home.

Heck, she might even want a new pup. I don't think the squirrels and bunnies and fish and the ferret keep her busy enough.

I see you're ready to go into personal attacks because I'm try to help this pup and you. I can tell you something. People lie. They do it all the time. Dog fighters have duped people with good intentions before.

Even a kill shelter would probably be able to place this young pup...

TW, you made it sound like you just found him.... but, anyway, you'd rather sell the kennel and give the dog away, arse backwards if you ask me...

Good luck, I hope you find him a good home.

Where is there a 'personal' attack? OP did not say anything bad about anyone.

Being from a "small town in Vermont" I must know nothing.

When, in fact, the OP probably has 10 times more options than I would in my area.

Maybe I took it the wrong way, but I don't really care. The OP will charge for a kennel but not the dog. The kennel can't be used as dog fighting bate or in labratory testing. It can't be starved or beaten. It won't care if it's bounced around from one home to the next. As for screening... that's great, but, let's face it... people lie all the time. Lying's cheap, paying a small adoption fee is not.

The way I read it, OP was saying that the suburbs of Atlanta are far different than a small town in VT. It had nothing to do with you personally. That seems like a perfectly legitimate statement to me. After all, "we" in New England regularly import dogs, puppies too, from the South to our shelters because southern shelters are overflowing and ours are not.
