Unhappy New puppy dislikes female owner!

Hi everyone

I have a 14 month old springer spaniel pup!! yes I know, he is a handful!!.

I live with my partner and ever since we have got the pup (hamilton), he has a tendency to snap at me alot, go for my face and bite me wherever and whenever possible! When I approach my partner, he gets very jelous and again goes for me.

It is getting very stressful and upsetting as having a new pup is supposed to be a fun and exciting time.
I have no idea what to do to get him out of this. Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas on what to do.

All help would be much appreciated!!!

Hi Tired puppy owner and welcome!
Did you say 14 months? Because at that age Hamilton really is no longer a puppy but pretty much a young adult dog.
How long have you had him, and what do you know about his previous life?

Have you tried using NILF? *Nothing in life is free*

Who walks him? Who feeds him? Who takes him out for play time?

I do not know a great deal about the background of hamilton, unortunately. He came from a family with young children in it.

I have a 9 year old retreiver and both me and my partner take them ou together. We share the feeding, although my partner takes hamilton to work with him some days.

Well 14 weeks is about the time when they nip terribly. This is usually normal. But you do have to train them to stop
this might help: http://www.dogforum.org/showthread.php?t=9741
How long have you had him?

well since 14 weeks is still very young...you've just begun the chewing/knawing phase i believe...
just grab the muzzle and with a firm tone say.."no bite"
cry out-so the pup realizes it HURTS
try a water bottle...spray a little in his face when he bites...
ignore him, get up remove yourself from the room, or immediately STOP play time...
good luck
Cant wait to see some pictures!!!

we had him from 9 weeks old. Other than trying to distract him and letting him know that it hurts when he bites. He tends to not take any notice of me but more of my partner!!

When you "yelp" and say no, redirect the bitting to a toy, something he is allowed to chew on.
