![]() Pebble (9 weeks) has decided to chew on the bark yard stone paving on the floor and also on the stone wall.
Is he doing anything unusual? I can hear his teeth grinding. I turn his attention to one of his toys but he keeps going back to the floor. Will this hurt his teeth? |

![]() Well, he has puppy teeth right now, they'll fall out sooner or later so it's not really going to matter-but once he gets those adult teeth in, they could chip or break. I would try to discourage it, maybe a little bitter apple on it, or a squirt with the hose.

![]() is he too young to be teething? could that be enticing him to the hard, presumably cool stone?
Bayta's favorite "toy" was a large piece of flagstone. She would attack it and throw it around then settle down to chew on it. Since it was flagstone it tended to crumble a little bit so I didn't worry a lot and she wasn't chewing on anything attached to the house. She did this up until about 2 months before she died. (12.5 years old) Never saw any wear on her teeth but she didn't do it daily, once a week or so for a few years then only every now and then. She did go through a stage where she was chewing tiny bits of crumbled concrete - but we think now that this was another aspect of the brain tumor perhaps.

![]() I would try to redirect your pup's behavior but since they're puppy teeth, I wouldn't worry too much.
Now, that's living up to a name! Hehehehe, Pebble likes big rocks too!

![]() after some more thought - would ice be a better distraction? I think the stone is not only hard but may be cool. Teething or not, that may be part of the appeal for him.

![]() Nooo, definitely not hot, we live in England!! Even though its high summer, no one could say its hot LOL! I think I might look for a teething toy that I can freeze if it is teething.
Thanks guys. |

![]() Rdirect as you are doing now, then go out and buy some " Bitter Apple". Spray that where the puppy is chewing. It is a strong taste deterrent and whould make the pup stop.
