Take her home and let her rest. She will be feeling much better in the morning.

I know it's a little disconcerting but she'll be fine. She may not even need the collar. Bayta didn't and nor did Ming (for sutures) so I'd recommend seeing how she does without it (with your supervision of course. She may only need it at night when you're not able to monitor her and then she'll be fine a few hours without water if she can't get to her bowl. Though most of the time they figure out a way. putting the bowl flat on the ground with plenty of room for her to "plant" her head and drink may work. Though I know she has short little legs so she may need just the opposite, the bowl elevated on some sort of stand that the collar will fit around. IF she really needs the collar.

as far as the druggy look - some dogs take longer for the anesthesia to wear off. It's a little odd but she'll be fine. You're just so accustomed to a high energy cheery dog.

But aren't you just glad it's over? I mean - I was a nervous wreck every time Bayta (and now Ming) had to be anesthetized for any reason. I hate the stuff on pets or humans. Makes me nervous as heck. Nothing more of a relief than the phone call "s/he's out of surgery and waking up..."

You can take the collar off when you feed her and when you're around her to keep an eye. It's just ot avoid her from licking the wound.

I know how you feel, seeing Abbie not being herself. It's quite heartbreaking. But don't worry, she'll be back to her normal self in no time.

I hope that Abbie is feeling better very soon. Poor girl. I hope it isn't serious. Please keep us updated.
