With my bitch's & family bitches they all started diofferet time's..

my cocker bitch had her first season at 7 months, then she had a season every 2 weeks for 6 week's

The rough collie had her first season at 14 months

the whippet had her first season at 12 month's

and the westi pup had her first season at 8 months

so i think its just depends by the dogs body

hope this helps a little

Broadly speaking, the smaller the dog the earlier they're likely to come in heat.

Toys have been know to come into heat at 5 or 6 months and some bigger dogs don't come in until closer to 18 months. The average would be about 8 or 9 months. Nothing is set in stone though!

Hi I have two Jack Russells and Dora took her first season at around 9 months to be honest a dog can go into season at any time between 6 and 9 months and that is just a rough guide, a good book to read on owning a bitch is "The Book of the Bitch" you can get it online pretty cheaply and it will answere most questions you may have about your girl's health etc. It will explaine how long her season may last and the signs to look out for when she is coming into season. Once she has had her first season it may take some time before she becomes regular so she could agin go into season any time from 6 to 9 months after her first season or possibly earlier or longer. To be honest it is pretty much like pubseant girls when they start menstruating very unpredictable.

hope this helps
