Default Introducing The Hoodlums...

Hello! I’ve been browsing for a while now and decided to take the plunge and introduce myself and the Hoodlums.

First of all, my name is Ashley and I reside in Michigan. I am a sophomore in college pursing a career with animals; the ultimate goal is to be a vet. Dogs are my life. I am owned by five lovely dogs, who collectively I affectionately refer to as The Hoodlums.

Shadow is my 11 year old Rottweiler. She is the “good kid” of the house and definitely earns that title. She was my first dog, and only dog for about 6 years. Shadow has taught me so much about dogs and life in general, I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher. She enjoys eating ice cream, laying on the couch and “chasing” jets.

Micki is a 5 year old Jack Russell Terrier. He is the grumpiest one of the bunch and takes life way too seriously. He doesn’t like to play and he believes it’s his job to keep the yard free of squirrels. Last summer he contracted Leptospirosis from a mouse that he killed and we almost lost him. It was a great reminder to our family that life is too short and now I don’t take the time I have with him (or the others) for granted, everyday is special. He has a weird obsession with the quad and motorcycle and loves to ride on them with my dad.

Mini is Micki’s sister, a 5 year old tri colored JRT. Mini is quite the opposite of Micki and is always doing something to entertain us. She enjoys kissing complete strangers, fishing, fishing, playing by herself, fishing, keeping the yard varmit free, fishing and did I mention that she likes fish? She has an obsession with them and we even installed a mini pond in our yard just for her.

Kyra is a 3 year old Jack Russell Terrier and the daughter of Mini. Now, I am 100% against back yard breeding but sadly my parents do not share the same values. After the ordeal with our little problem puppy Kyra I can promise you they will never think of breeding again. Kyra was born with a cleft palate (hole in the roof of her mouth). Vets urged us to put her down because they believed she would never live a normal life. After researching quite a bit I decided to raise the little girl myself. She is and will always be the baby of the family and is quite spoiled and sassy. She is unbelievably smart and will play, play, play all day long.

Last but not least is Jack, also known as Jackie Loo. He is MY dog and rarely leaves my side. He is incredibly smart and loves learning new things. Jack is also the best cuddler in the world and thinks he’s a little lap dog. He loves agility, going rollerblading or biking, the occasional swim and FOOD. He is a 2 year old Lab/Beagle mix, and he was rescued from the shelter when he was about 4 months old.

Now for the pictures! Here are a few of the most recent group shots of my gang:

Just one more...Jack, Mini, Kyra, Shadow and Micki

Looking forward to getting to know everybody!

Welcome to the forum and great pics. My family had a Jack Russell when I was growing up (he lived until he was 19) and he was the best behaved most loyal dog you could ever hope for so I have very found memories of little Jacks.
