![]() Hi!
I found this site and thought it would be good to get some new info on my new dogs. I love dogs, had one or two all my life. My new dogs were homeless, I felt sorry for them and now I own two Chinese crested terriers. They get along well with my 100 lb Golden Retriever. My problem: The terriers hate the cold MN winter and one of them has big accidents in the house. I want to build a insulated doghouse, without a floor that I can clean from the top, heat etc. and was wondering if anyone has any ideas how to do this. |

![]() Hello and welcome the forum. Great to have you with us. I hope you'll post pics of your critters, I have a Golden & I love Cresteds (if I ever had a small dog, it would likely be a Crested).
Is there a reason you need a dog house for your Cresteds? I can't imagine they'd be a breed who is likely to enjoy being outdoors in the cold regardless of having a nice sheltered spot.

Hi and welcome to the forum from me and my Gang. Do your chinese cresteds look like this http://www.thechinesecrestedclubofgreatbritain.org.uk/ if so they are not terriers but members of the toy group, If it is the hairless type you have you have to spply sun-block so that they do not get sun burned in hot weather. Sorry as regards an insulated doghouse I am afraid I can't help May I ask if you are in the UK cause if so I would think the weather her too cold for the hairless one's to be kept outside, if they are powder puffs then it may be okay as they have some covering. . ![]()

![]() There is no way I would leave either one of my dogs out in a South Dakota winter. They are house dogs and the dane has entirely way to short of hair to be out long and the chi is just way to small. The chi is litterbox trained so in not out much anyway.
I hope you find a way to keep your dogs in ... the will love the companionship that goes along with being a house dog ![]()

![]() Hello to all who replied.
My intention is to have the dogs go to the bathroom in the dog house that is heated. In the winter, my little ones hate going outside. They are very good now in the summer, it's just winter. I would NEVER leave them out...I just want them to do their business outside. I introduced them to a litter box and they had no interest in that. |

![]() Ahhhhh, that's entirely different. Is there a spot near your door where you could put a small sized "covered run" with easy access (maybe even only enclosed on 3 sides & top)?

![]() Welcome. I live in north Idaho and we get some very cold weather. All my dogs are short haired, not bald though. LOL. They go out to potty and come right back in if it's severely cold. I think your idea for a warm dog house for doing their business is a good idea. At first it sounded like they were going to be outside dogs. That sort of made us go...."A-h-h-h-h..." LOL. Glad you joined!
