Default Any Leonberger or Bullmastiff owners?

Hi I am new here and want to say Hi to you all and possibly get some advise on getting the right dog to fit with our family. This site seems like a great place to learn and share about dogs. I hope to continue chatting with you all when we do finally find the right dog. These are the two breeds my dh and I love and think might work for us. We have twin 2yr old toddlers and two cats at home who are 3 rs old.
If anyone has either of these dog breeds I would love to ask you lots of questions?

Welcome here!.
My family has owned leonbergers for the last 20 yrs.Only males.Great family dog.Hope you don't mind a dog that likes to swim and then lean against you and shake.Their nickname is the "leanberger".They love long walks and kids.
Taught my nephew to walk by holding his mane.
The last one we have, was given to us by the breeder cos the 1st owner couldn't deal with his size and hair. It's a dominant breed that take could care of yr family and house.
Sadly enough like all giant breeds, they don't live long.
We lost the 1st one at 5 yrs old and the second one at 11 mths.
The one,we have,now, is 6 yrs old.
My brother has a male and a female. He nearly lost the male cos of the recall.
If you need pictures,just ask!!.

Welcome!!
My sister has Leos and one shepherd. They are big sweet hearts, but need a job to do. She does alot of obedience work with them etc, even drafting. They are highly intellegent and need stimulation and activites. Although short lived, they love to have something to do..

Hello and welcome to the forum! Great to have you here. Good luck with your search for the right dog. I've always wanted one of the mastiff breeds as I think they are wonderful choices. I don't know much at all about Leonbergers but they look like just my style of dog too.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Sorry to hear you lost them so young! that is very hard losing a pet. My sister has an 11 year old newf now and he is still doing ok. God bless him. He is old and does have his health problems(allergies, bad knees, spinal surgery, eye surgery,etc....) but he is the dog that turned me on to the giant breeds we have other newfs in the family as well. I would love to get one myself but it is not my husbands dog of choice sad to say. Do you think leos shed more than newfs? any more than that I don't think I could deal with. Thanks again!

They don't shed any more but just as much!.
The good thing with leos is that they don't slobber.
They have what you call, a dry mouth which for me,is a big plus.
I also love the coloring of the leo. They really do look like lions but thank-God,are more active.they are big dogs but you don't want them oversized in weight.
