Default Hello - I'm a newby

the reason i am posting this thread is that sadly today we had to give our dog max away - he is a lovely dog but has bitten 5 times now and the last time was my 16 year old daughter and he bit the back of her leg and also her ankle quite badly.

My husband and i are very very sad as we had max since he was 2 years old he is a cross burneese mountain and colly - he is very loving and we will miss him greatly.

I guess i am really looking for confirmation that he will be ok - he has gone to a lady that used to train dogs and she has 2 other dogs - she is what i would call excentric as in her house is a mess and the dogs sort of rule her house. The lady that found the new home for max is the dog groomer that we use.

I know she would not let him go to a bad home but i am still worried that he will be heart broken - i know he will but i am hoping he will settle after a few days or weeks - please someone say he will be ok and put my mind at rest i am ver sad tonite

welcome to the forums.. I am sorry about what has happened. But that was a tuff mix. Collies can have temper (depending on how they are breed, my friend is doing protection with her shorthaired) and a mountaindog they can too. Guess the genes made a hard combo. and if you can trust your groomer, then the dog will have it good. I hope things sort out for you guys.
Remember, just as your dog got help, you can help another dog. Next time just choose something that will be a bit easier to handle as a mix or pure breed for you whole as a family. You can find a lot of support and help here.

Hi Lizaluck and welcome
I am sorry to hear that you were having such problems with Max that you had to give him away. I don't know the details, but you do have to think about your children at least as much as about your dogs. I'm sure that the lady that is now taking care of Max will do her best to stop the biting problem.

Welcome! I'm sorry to hear that you had to rehome your dog but it does sound like the safest & best solution for you. It is good to hear that a person with experience in training has taken on the challenge of rehabilitating your Max. I'd be confident you made the right choice.
