Default New Guy & Dog

Hello everyone!

My name is Malachi and my dog is Naomi. She's a ridgeback/pit mix, about four years old, that I adopted from a county shelter about three months ago and we have become best buddies quite swiftly...she's a real sweetie and constantly with me, loves people, dogs, you name it. If I were to describe her, she's a lover, a clown and total couch-potato. Pretty much she just naturally does everything I need her to do, and her low energy level is perfect for me because I'm a heart patient. She's recovering from severe abuse, but is moving forward very well. I'm very proud of her. At any rate, just wanted to say "hello" from me and Naomi.

Malachi and Naomi, welcome to the forum. Rescue dogs are the greatest. Both of my dogs are rescues. I believe that there is a special bond created between rescue dogs who are adopted and the persons who adopt them. Looking forward to more posts from you and photos.

Welcome Malaki (and Naomi :-)) We're glad to have you join us and kudos to you for giving Naomi a home! She sounds like a wonderful pup and a perfect match. I'm looking forward to hearing much more about her and seeing tons of pictures!

Yes, indeed, we talk good walks, and fortunately she does not walk super fast, but at a gentle pace. Had open heart surgery two years ago and so can walk again, it is good. She's a funny one, she's so well house broken she won't even do her "business" in the yard, only on walks, so we go walking about four times a day, two of them longer walks or hikes.

Welcome, Malaki and Naomi. I am also new to the forum but am receiving many warm welcomes and hope you're having the same great experience.

Congrats on making a new best friend! I also adopted an abused doggie about 5 months ago. I'm amazed how people can be mean and cruel to other living beings, especially sweet dogs.

How is your doggie doing with the transition to a loving home? My Libby is highly food motivated so her training is fairly simple (until she goes into "selfish mode" when she only does what she wants lol).

Looking forward to hearing more and seeing pics of your sweet Naomi. Take care of each other!
