Default Hello from upstate NY

Hello;
My name is Rich Kittelsen and our family is getting a pup. We have previously owned a Newf (Sinbad) in my late 20ís/early 30ís. that was a number of years ago (Iím 57) and now retired and am interested in a Newf again. Sinbad was my first Dog while living alone after collage, we went everywhere together and loved him very much. With raising a family and having a relatively small house prohibited us from getting a Newf while the kids were growing up. We did have mixed breed dogs and one Lab during those years. Now reitred with a larger home, a Newf is on our way. Plan is to get him this spring. My goal with the Newf would be to work on getting a CD cert and do therapy work with him so he can go into hospital or elderly facilities etc for other people.

Welcome Rich, great to have you join us! And I'm looking forward to "meeting" your new pup! I have friends upstate whose family had FIVE newfies in a log cabin home!! They also had glass etages as part of their furniture and I was amazed that each time the dogs were romping around that not one thing got knocked over. I love newfies, such sweet, gentle, and fun-loving dogs.

Yes, nydvc, FIVE newfies! I remember walking in the front door and almost not believing my eyes :-) They were wonderful, sweet dogs. The only "incident" I am aware of is when the wife was sitting on the sofa and three of the dogs came bounding into the living room, jumped up and put their paws on the back of the sofa all at once and accidentally flipped it backwards with the wife still sitting in it (!) but everyone got along just great and it was fun to visit.

I can so imagine the couch flipping and how funny that must have been. Assuming no one got hurt. Thanks for the story.
