That gives us about a month to settle in and all of that jazz. Then I'll be home a little more for their first days and I can slowly up the "gone" hours. I have a kid who's had seperation anxiety, at various degrees, for years... so at least I'm familiar with that aspect.
Ah Ok it would be good if you could have a week off though as a couple of days may not be enough as dogs need time to settle in a new home This is good if you want to avoid destructivness in a couple of dogs It's quite possible to get a pair that are inseperable and must be rehomed as a 'pair' from a rescue/rehoming center. How old is your child now? If they are a reasonable age they could prehaps keep and maybe help the 2 dogs settle in!! Looking forward to you introducing them when you get them

He is 6.5 years old. He is pretty familiar with animals though. His dad has cats, adopted as well and with their own little quirks. I have had a few reptiles during my time at my current residence, to include leopard geckos, which you have to be pretty gentle with. He has done well with all of them. Dogs really seem to like him though, even dogs who's owners claimed were shy and/or hated kids. So, he'll probably do the same for whoever we do end up adopting. If they lean more "puppy" with wanting a lot of play then he'd be a better match for them anyways. I'm a pretty chill out sort, personality wise.

Hey welcome. If you plan to travel, better leave it for when you're back then. Dogs are really social animals and would love it when you are around. It surely is a different world and you'll need to be prepared above everything else.

Yea, I don't want to cause problems that I will have to fix, or have to restart with whatever training I had accomplished before said vacation. I won't know if it will happen until after I get up there. So, I'm still reading up now and being ready just in case I don't go.

Great move by getting your self prepared prior to taking in 2 dogs so keep researching and keep asking questions on here can only help the transistion go smoothly!!
