Default This fell in my lap

I was debating what to get for my next dog and the waiting lists were looking to be a year long so I had plenty of time to research a few things before my new puppy. Then a few hours ago I ended up with a runt siberian husky

I guess my debate is solved for now. I'm still going to look at the canaan dogs I planned to the end of this month but it will probably be another 2 years from now.

I have to go quickly scout out the training places I looked up in our new city and I am not up to date on various vaccination opinions. I'm also happy and not happy with the vet we are currently using. They do 3 year vaccinations but they run off with your animal to the back to do anything and that does not work. Might be calling vet clinics for a better place.

I also have an akita and a shiba who are in a fit over their new pack member.

She went pee when I put her in the grass and then wobbled to me. However a playstation controller made it into her mouth and I'm trying to convince her to chew on a toy instead. Do they make Kong's for 3 lb puppies?

Sure do, so many toy dogs on the market now they have to make some tiny ones.

I'm seeing more and more vets take the animal to a back room to give shots or whatever. They can't with Frodo because he is hard to handle. But what's up with that anyway? Vets never used to do that.

I asked my vet this once, she said they do that because the dog acts differently when their owners aren't around(they are usually easier to handle). My vet does this with weight weighing/vaccinations. I personally don't have a problem with it because they explain to me what they'll be doing before they take her back.

Also welcome to the forum kageri! Cute pup and I hope you're the active type(or that one will make you the active type,ha)

I have a huge problem with it because my akita will not agree to leaving me with strangers. After they drag her out of the room she is at risk of reacting badly if I'm not there to tell her she should let them do something. She has good bite inhibition but if you ignore her attempts to leave and then growling she may move on to leaving bruises. Eventually she might get to breaking skin. We protect each other. Abandoning her with strangers is not part of the deal.

That's understandable (and I apologize if my post made it seem like you shouldn't have a problem with it, I think vets should work with owners and do what is best for the dog) I hope you're able to find a vet who will work with you and your dog and do what works best with it. It took me 3 vets to find the vet we are at now and I don't think we'll be leaving them anytime soon. They actually listen and communicate with owners and don't make you feel rushed around. They also work on making the dogs feel comfortable (not to mention the work is great too). I hope you're able to find a good vet!

Hi I wouldn't worry about the vaccinations for every 3 years there are many threads on this here new evidence is showing that modern day vaccines do last longer than 12 months!
But for the vet to run off to a back room for such a routine procedure seems very strange to me so look round for another vet Good luck and keep us updated please!
