Default AdopTeD New PuP!!

Hey everyone,

My name is Aaron and I recently adopted a pup, I named him Dexter! He is a boxer mix, about 10 Weeks old and 13-14 lbs. I know he has boxer in him but can't make out what else he can possibly be mixed with. Walking him around I have heard multiple suggestions including-boxer mixed with: St. Bernard, pit bull, or even german shepherd. I wanted to create this thread in order to hear anyone else's thought of what he may be. Please let me know!!! Thank you, all of your help is appreciated.

Since I am a first time owner of a puppy, any tips you have on parenting a young pup would be very greatly appreciated! Thank you all for your time!

----Aaron

(I have attached a picture of him at 8 Wks old)

Welcome, Aaron. Damn cute pup you have there but I won't hazard a guess on the mix. Doesn't even look boxer to me.
Better experts than I on raising a pup but I will say that consistency is very important.

Hi Aaron and welcome aboard to Df Dexter is a adorable (but don't let that fool you!!) Pups can be very hard work and demanding etc but like Mr John rightly said consistancy in training is good there's is one more bit repetition put these 2 together and they are the keys to success in any training and training can start right now!!! Breed type well I do see a tad boxer and some terrier in Dexter but @ 10 weeks old it's difficult to say!
One more tip for you at the bottom of each page there is a forum jump
drop down list that takes you to subforums like Dog Food & Nutrition,
Dog Discussions, etc so if you say have a problem/question with
'Puppies' then post there it's a big site and takes a bit of getting used to but it's a great forum so enjoy

Welcome to DF Aaron! It's hard to tell with a puppy. His feet don't look to outrageously big so I guessing not St. Bernard. There are DNA tests out there. You can search for them on this site.
Invest in the time to train him. Go to puppy classes and train yourself by reading too.
Again Welcome!

Aaron, welcome to the forum. Dexter is beautiful. Love his facial expression. With many mix breed pups, they have to grow up some before you can really try to figure out by sight what their background is. I love mix breed dogs and have had nothing but them for the last 15+ years. Training is important to insure that your and Dexter's lives are good. There are many links on this forum that should help you. Also, as previously suggested, you can go to the puppy thread and post any specific problem you are having. Have fun and enjoy your new best friend.
