Default Hello from Oakville,Ontario

Well I,m new on here and just got a 7 mth old female Min Pin .I,m use to owning Irish Wolfhounds so this is all new to me .I have so many questions and not sure what to do? My puppy has been hiding under my couch since last nite .Heck the young couple who owned her before didn,t even have a proper name for her.The guy called her Pepper and the girlfriend or wife called her Taz.Oh man poor pup .Any help would be much appreciated believe me
Thanks

Welcome Tony, great to have you join us and congratulations on your new little pup. That's quite a size difference from what you are used to! How long have you had her? It is going to take some time for her to settle in and become comfortable in her new home. If you can, I would limit her access to maybe one room at a time so that she learns to feel secure and then will begin to explore one area at a time. Is she crate trained at all? You might want to keep a crate in the kitchen or whatever room you choose and put some toys and treats in it, leaving the door open so that she comes to understand that as her "safe" place when she is feeling overwhelmed. Have you renamed her?

Default New Min Pin

Thanks for replying .I just got hr last nite around 6:00 .I like the name Pepper.Apparently they didn,t give me a crate and she's housebroken .I,m going to be selling my huge crate and getting a small one for her asap. She is starting to come out slowly so I,m going to let her do it on her own .
Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you're doing just what Pepper needs, letting her go slowly at her own pace.
