Default So I've entered the Utopia of all dog talk?

Greetings everyone! I'm new around here, and stating how "excited" I am to be part of this community, is an understatement.

For starters, I live in GA (south of the city), and is a new owner of a female Jack Russell Terrier/Lab (I believe) (about 13 weeks old), and a male English Bulldog/Lab mix.

My female, BeBe (you have to say it fast), is a ball of energy to say the least. She looks EXACTLY like Wishbone. She requires the most attention, but is capable of holding her own, while I tend to Brutus (male bulldog).

Brutus is close to 11 weeks old, and man, he's still a baby compared to BeBe. A little aggressive, but super social nonetheless. I've been keeping him inside, since BeBe contracted Parvo about a month ago (she was back to her energetic self after a week).

Unfortunately, Bruno (my first male English Bulldog) fought it for 5 days, but didn't pull through (seizure, diarrhea with blood, vomiting, lethargic, refused to eat, lost movement in legs).

The people that bought them from, actually sold me another male bulldog for a quarter of the price that initially paid. I didn't want to pay anything, but $40 is better than having to pay bail money...sheesh, I was VERY upset.

Anyhow, they've both been on schedule with their shots, and I've completely disinfected my house, as well as bleaching my yard (no worries, my grass looked terrible anyway).

BeBe is actually able to go outside and relieve herself, but I STILL have my reservations about allowing Brutus to go outside. I took him to get his 2nd round of shots (distemper, parvo, etc.) and the vet gave me thumbs up to allow him to use the restroom outside, but I'm still hesitant.

I've had Brutus for about 3 weeks, and what I've been doing, has worked thus far, and a bit afraid to go against it, at least until the 24th (his 3rd round of shots).

Thanks for reading my lengthy introduction, and I WILL be posting and asking several questions in designated threads.

Welcome MeanestNiceGuy, great to have you join us (and yep, we do think this is the utopia of dog forums :-) ) I am sorry to hear poor Bruno succumbed to parvo. You do have two adorable pups there. I am an absolute sucker for flopover ears. Two young pups can certainly keep you on your toes. Looking forward to hearing much more about them as they grow and seeing tons more pictures.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear you lost little Bruno. When we got Little Lucy at 4 1/2 months her first family had named her BeBe. She is chi/pug but her favourite stuffed toy which she has had since we got her is a Wishbone!! My daughter had it and it was bigger than Lucy so we gave it to her so she had a friend. Lucy would be lost without it now. Your little BeBe and Brutus are adorable!!

MeanestNiceGuy, welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about Bruno. BeBe and Brutus are adorable. I would be very careful with Brutus until he finishes his final round of parvo shots. My youngest daughter worked at a vets when she was in high school. One day she helped with the examination of a dog who had parvo. Since we had a young puppy in our home, the vet had her call home to have me bring a change of clothes and shoes for her. Bigboy mentioned that parvo could be carried in on the other pup's paws. Our vet said it can also sometimes be brought into a home on the bottoms of people's shoes. (By the way, the vet did disinfect my daughter's clothes and shoes and she got them back the next day.) Anyway just be careful.

Welcome to the forum, you have two gorgeous pups.

You been given good advice about the parvo, puppies are so susceptible to it.

Thanks. As for Brutus and his "aggressiveness", I've pretty much chalked it up to doggy play.

He has this thing where he likes to bite my hands, so either I tap him on the nose, or I'll hold his muzzle until he stops. I'm not in love with the muzzle grab, but his little sharp teeth along with his sharp claws can be a bit annoying. Lol

The vet made me feel like a fool this past Monday, when Brutus tried to bite my hand in front of him. He said, "see, he's looking to bite your hand, not mine". Then I mentioned the fact that I was working on it but having some difficulty, he replied, "Oh, so he's still training you". I was waiting for a punchline or a laugh, but nothing followed. Since Monday, Brutus has catching grief from me about biting my hands/fingers.
