Default Hi,my introduction post

Hi I found this forum by doing a google search for dog forum communities. I'm a mom to 5 girls. Four of them human and 1 canine My human daughters are Ashleigh-14, Madisyn-12, Emely-10 and Cathryn (Catie)-3. My canine daughter is Sadie. We've had her for 2 1/2 weeks. She is a brindle, but we're not really sure what her breed or mix is. We rescued her from the pound and they estimated she is around 2 years old. She is a very sweet and loving dog. She's 62lbs but thinks she's a lap dog LOL! Every time someone sits on the couch she climbs up for cuddles. She has loved every person and dog she has met so far. She hardly ever barks. Actually the only time we've heard her bark is if there's a cat nearby. She misses the girls when they go to school and gets very excited and vocal (not barking but more like howling/talking noises) when they come home. I took her to the vet last week, but was just informed today she has hookworm . So picked up and gave her some medicine for that. I'm supposed to get her re-tested in a month.

Here are some pictures of her and some of my other girls.

Sadie and Madisyn

Sadie and Ashleigh. Laying on her back is her favorite position

Welcome madileigh, great to have you join us! What a lovely family you have and your 'newest' member seems to have settled right in. I don't think you can get much more comfortable than Sadie looks on her back on the sofa :-) I hope to hear that she is over her hookworm problem soon!

thanks everyone. Yes she is a large lap dog, well at least she thinks so LOL! As long as you'll pet her and pay attention to her, she'll love you. This week she met 2 new people, a neighbor and my daughter madisyn's counselor (she has autism) and she didn't bark at them. Just went up to them and laid her head in their lap.

We were worried about finding a dog as gentle and calm as the one we previously owned but looks like we did. We lost Shelby Ann, Our chocolate lab the past january due to bone cancer. She was 9 1/2 years old when she died. The way Sadie acts is exactly like Shelby! Several times Sadie has done stuff, and i think "wow, shelby used to be the exact same way!"

Hi! I am new also! Your dog is beautiful!
Regarding hookworms, they can infect cats and if it is a certain kind also humans. Be sure to clean up her feces and not leave it in the yard as it will infect other dogs. (I am treating a foxhound for it right now.) You can google hookworms in dogs...some cysts will stay in her system and then re-infect at a later date....just FYI.
