Hi everyone, I'm new here, so I figured I should introduce myself and my dog.
My dog's name is Kai. She is a black GSD. Not too long ago we joined a search and rescue group.
I train horses for living, also make horse hair jewelry and the rest of my time I spend playing with my dog.

As I mentioned above I make horse hair jewelry. But I figured out I can make tassels out of dog hair too. No I am not trying to advertise my business, I am busier than busy lol.

How did I came up with the idea? My son's dog is very old. We don't know how much longer will she stay with us and he wanted a keepsake. So I cut some hair from her tail and made him a tassel to put on his key ring. He loved it.

I made these also. They are from long coat dogs:

Someone asked me to make a bracelet out of their dog too. They had to put her down. So they saved the tail hair.

We have a lot in common. I also have a GSD, and am training him to track. {a little different than you with SAR...but,} We also have horses, and in younger years trained and showed, along with my daughter. {lol, I was training her too!}
No great successes, just local stuff. Good way to spend time raising a kid.
Anyway, I love the picture of your black shepherd. He is a beauty.
I havent been successful with pic's yet. I'm going to have to get some help with that..
