Default I'm back!

Hi everyone,

I don't know if everyone will remember me, I haven't logged on in over a year and a half. Last time I was on here, I told everyone the news of my Border collie, Kaia, passing away. She was only a year old and after a difficult month of treatment and misdiagnosis’s, Kaia died during a seizure. I got test results back a week after her death. The only thing they knew was that she had something wrong neurologically, probably due to poor breeding. I tried contacting the breeder through phone and e-mail but neither worked. I sent them a letter through mail but they never responded to me. I learned my lesson on doing more research on a quality breeder. I had never bought from a breeder before and I foolishly believed in the wrong breeder.

After posting the news of her death, I stopped coming on here. I guess I just wanted to be alone for a while. I hope you all know how much I appreciate the support you gave me.

I struggle with her passing, even to this day. She was so young, so happy, so loved, she deserved more time. I thought as life went on, it would get easier and in some ways, it has. I don't feel an intense, sharp pain at the thought of her anymore. I think more about the happy moments rather than her painful ending. Yet, I haven't moved on from her. I don't think I ever will. I miss everything about her. I miss our long hikes, my errand buddy, my cuddly pup, and our training sessions. I truly miss my best friend. Kaia was only in my life for 7 months, but she made such a huge impact on my life. I found my passion for dogs and discovered my hobby in training. I don’t know exactly what I want to do yet, but I want to find a career involving dogs.

I haven’t gotten another dog yet. I was lucky enough to have my parents help me take care of Kaia physically as well as financially. Now that I am 18, my parents said if I adopted a dog, it would be 100% my responsibility. I have been busy with college, work, and a social life and I know adding a dog would really stretch my time and money. I know I could make it work, but I decided I will wait until I feel it is the right time in my life. I think I am making the right decision in waiting, but I still miss having a dog like crazy.

I recently wrote about Kaia for one of my college essays and I remembered this forum. I decided to come back and catch up on everything!

Welcome back, it's good to hear from you. Just remember all the wonderful memories that Kaia gave you were her gift to you for and all you learned from her is her gift to you next dog. Glad to hear school is going well too!

Welcome back! I do remember you, at least by user name.

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your precious Kaia...Shame on that breeder, it's infuriating how unethical some are. She will always hold a special spot in your heart. They can never be replaced, and you will never forget her, but we dog lovers can always find a new, different place in our heart for another dog

I recently got a border collie myself. He is a truly wonderful dog, I can't imagine being without him now. I took him traveling with me and he was my constant companion while my boyfriend was in class. We went hiking and swimming and hung out at the park, he chased dragonflies while we walked up the creek. I just love him!

Even if you can't manage a dog, right now (wise decision), you can always hang out with us! Welcome back.
