i did read it. it's just like everything else, and every product in the pet stores - all geared toward tinckling, not pooping. Honestly, I love my little JOY and I don't really mind picking up her little formed turds (pardon em moi) but i want her to be well behaved and good company for anyone, not just mommy and daddy. (plus they might not always be small and well formed, lol)

As long as you are right with her when you take her outside, you should not have a problem with the hawks especially if you take her under the trees not in the wide open fields. You should be taking her out on leash so that you can treat and praise her when she does go.

If the hawks are really bad, I would set up a pen in the house with pee pads down until she is bigger so at least you can contain her until she has gone.

Have you thought of doing a pergola, but enclosing roof and sides not attached to the house? Perhaps with shade cloth or mesh? Then there is always a 1/2 way point and safe spot for her. My lot rush to the door, when I yell TOILIES!!! and take the op to do a wee and if they want, a poo. I still automatically say, WELL DONE!!! and thought how embarrassing to be told, EVERY time, WELL DONE. Imagine having someone outside the door, you open it, and they say, WELL DONE!.... The joy of pets...

I agree, scrap the paper and take her outside. Poop is usually easier to train for than pee because a dog fed regularly (not free fed) will quickly get into a predictable schedule, and you usually get some warning if they are getting ready to poop indoors during which time you can scoop up the pup and rush outside. It's highly predictable, for example, that your dog will need to poop first thing in the morning so take her straight outside. Movement gets bowels working so walking or running her around a bit usually speeds things up.

Welocme to the forum Sherylbob I can understand your concern about the hawks if the skies were full of them then there's a problem! So long as you keep your eyes on the sky and don't let her out of your site IE: No open fields and on a retractable leash give words of encouragement and when she is done plenty of praise Go OTT each and every time Use treats as well to start with and be consistent on this and you will have it sorted Let us know how you get on please Good luck
