Default Help needed re puppy toilet training!

Hi all

New to all this so please bare with me!

I have a nearly 5mnth old minature dachshund puppy and im having trouble making him go to the loo outside! I take him out all the time and tell him to go (like ive read) but hell happily go outside but then comes indoors to go to the loo! Its frstrating now as he seems to sneak off and go where he shouldnt! He sometimes goes near the back door but keeps going in bedrooms (we live in a bungalow). How can i make him understand he must go in the garden and not indoors??????????????? Quickest way?

many thanks

The quickest way is to not give him free roam of the house. Either keep him on leash with you or in a crate if you are busy and not able to keep track of him. The more he goes in the house, the harder it is to get them to go outside.

Take him outside often and really praise him when he goes outside. If he does not go when you take him out, put him in his crate for a short time, then take him outside again. Once they have gone outside a few times and been really praised and given treats, it is much easier, especially if they have not been allowed to go inside.

jessabelle, welcome to the forum!!! Toilet training can be frustrating to say the least. is he crate trained or does he have full run of the house? I am not a professional trainer, but we do have some great ones on this forum. I am sure some will respond.
