![]() hello, I recently gave a 4 month old puppy some milk thinking that would be tasty for him seeing he was uncomfortable in new surroundings. Well, that evening he vomited and I chalked it up to being nervous. The next day he had a bit of diarrhea and the next day more vomit and diarrhea. I couldn't get to a vet and the local vet was out of town. I have an appointment tomorrow,
I am new to this area and not sure what to expect from a vet here. He automatically tells me the puppy may have THE virus, parvo is what he meant. I refuse to think such things, anyway this morning he is better and wagging his tail but still obviously not feeling up to snuff, he was given to me by some people I know nothing about, I figure because they did'nt want to care for him. He has fleas and I have given him meds, I feel like an idiot giving the milk. Can a puppy be that allergic to milk? Or do you think it is something worse? The puppies eyes are clear and nose has been wet but no nasal discharge. No wheezing, no bloody vomit or stools, no pain in abdomen. Just plain don't want to eat unless I feed it to him and then looks at me disgusted! He has been drinking water on his own though. I have been making sure he is drinking plenty. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Welcome animal lover and congratulations on your new pup! Many dogs have issues with dairy products that sound like the symptoms you describe. I'm glad to hear he is going to see the vet tomorrow and am hoping to hear all good news (and then hopefully see tons of pictures :-) )

![]() Welcome to the forum! Glad to see you have a vet appointment. I would not suggest milk. Believe it or not, cats shouldn't have milk either. What kind of food are you feeding your pup? Oh, and please post some pictures!

![]() Thank You All! Your very sweet! This morning our puppy crawled in bed with us! He has been eating and drinking and running around and playing! I am so happy!
He has a vet appointment Friday, he is going for his shots and a check up and of course wormed, even though I see no signs, they said it would be better to worm him anyway since he is so young and the former "parents" paid no particulars to his well being. Do you have any comments on the best puppy food? I can probably get it at the vets Friday. I have no idea about recent shots and I doubt he did have any at all. Poor little guy! he is the sweetest dog I think I have ever seen! He is very loving and loves to be held. He is very smart and knows a lot of tricks already! He is so young. Yes! I need pics! Thank You all for your interest in my little guy and I will keep you posted! p.s. yes I pretty much consider him a rescue considering the shape he was in. The fleas and all. Terrible! I also told the vet about that and will get some good medicine for him, I really hate any kind of poison, do you know of any web sites with an organic medication? or is that even made? Any suggestions for a good medication? |
