Thumbs down Newbie!

Hey, my name is Al and im 20. Don't have a dog yet but am seriously considering one! I have a question regarding cats and dogs, its under the puppies board in full detail, but a quick rundown is concerns over bringing a puppy into a house with cas. From what I've seen pups soon learn the cats are boss but just wondered if anyone knows of particular breeds that get on well with cats, or if it's down to the dgs training and temperament

Hi and welcome to the forum from me and my Gang. I have 5 dogs and a cat and they all live in harmony. Yet they say don't have a sight hound with a cat. Now I am not in any way recommending you get a sight hound I am just pointing out that it is difficult to pinpoint a particular breed that will get on with a cat think no matter what breed you decide on you have to introduce them gently to each other and with patientce and time things should work out between dog and cat.

Hi there, I have two minature Dachshunds and a grumpy old cat she is half persian/Chinchilla. We had the cat a couple of years before the pooches arrived on the scene, when we walked through the door with the dogs the cat had a face like a smacked arse. However now they stay in the same room and get along great - if the dogs get too much for Poos Poos she hisses at them and they stay away, mind you the warning hiss can be a problem for Minx as she is deaf.
