Default Introducing Zoe & Myself

Hello Dog Forum! I am very excited to be here and have been reading through posts for a while, greatly enjoying seeing all of your dogs, finding treat recipes, and advice on training. Yesterday, most likely the best day of my life, I brought home my very first dog, Zoe, a nine week old golden retriever. She is very skittish and has many fears we are trying to help her overcome with encouragement and bits of milk bones. She is a total sweetheart. If you so much as look at her or walk near her crate she will start wagging her tail and will roll onto her back, hoping for a belly rub.

Without further ado, here's Zoe!

At 7 weeks, while we were visiting her.

Now, at 9 weeks

She has succeeded in chewing up a few Petco receipts we had accidentally left on the floor, eating a number of our flowers, peeing in the house (only once, though!), and keeping me up for most of the night whining until I slept on the floor beside her crate to keep her company, but we all still love her very much. She is very intelligent and very affectionate, and is pampered and played with all day.

Hello Crazy About Zoe, welcome! I can see why you are crazy about her! What an adorable puppy; she'd be able to get anything she wanted from me with those eyes :-)

Wow, nice puppy.
I always tossed and turned in my head weather to get a border collie, german shepherd or a golden retriever.

Have fun with your new puppy!

OMG!! What an adorable puppy! My parents have always had goldens and I love the breed. I always wanted one myself until I fell in love with flatcoats...

Thanks very much for the warm welcome! We love Zoe very much, and she really is a great dog, so affectionate and funny and very bright. She's only been here two days and she has mastered sit. She now has to sit for all of her meals. She is also making progress with down, come, off, drop, and crate, but these seem to be harder for her and I'm guessing they will take some time. As soon as she's finished her last dose of shots next week we're going to sign her (and me! I'm the one who really needs it) up for a weekly puppy obedience class. Hopefully that will help us understand her better.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you!

I do have some sad news. Zoe has pneumonia! We are sort of relieved, though, we were really worried because the symptoms fit parvo; vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, no appetite, not drinking, fever... but the parvo test was negative, THANKFULLY! After doing an X-ray to look for possible intestinal blockages (everything was clear), the vets saw some nasty stuff in her lungs, and realized that we were looking in the wrong place. We are still really worried about her, but relieved that the pneumonia is in its early stages and that it should clear up soon. We are now giving her anti nausea meds as well as antibiotics.
