Default Coming soon...

Dear all

Since my old friend Oskah died last week we have decided to get a new pup. Oskah was a Doberman/Lurcher/Boxer cross (mum was a pedigree Doberman) so I thought it would be fitting to get another Doberman cross. Ive always loved the temperament of dobermans and Oskah was so clever and loving that it had to be done. I'd never risk buying a pedigree again after all the problems we had with two Doberman Bitches when I was younger. They both died at 10 years. Hopefully the Labrador influence in the new puppah will increase his health and vigor.

I found a guy selling pups last wednesday and had to put a deposit down for a redish looking male pup (Oskah was ginger and white). The mother is Labrador/Doberman cross and the father is pedigree Doberman - both are award winning agility dogs. I havent actually seen them yet but will do so in early June. The guy has sent me some pics though.

Mum

Dad

New pup (Awwwwwww) - will be with us on June 26

Here is the shortlist of possible names so far (will wait til I get to know him before deciding though):

1) Archie
2) Roots (I fitted a Roots-Type supercharger to my miata/mx5)
3) Clyde (always like the name since watching 'any which way but loose')
4) Woody (He was born on 'Woodruff Close')

Hopefully I'll be showing lots of photos of our exploits together over the coming years.. If you have any suggestions for names please post!

Cheers

Ben

Hi Ben
I didn't get the chance to welcome you to the forum so let me do that now.
I'm very sorry to hear about Oskah. They say you can never replace the dog that is in your heart, but you can make room in your heart for another dog. Best of luck getting a new canine friend.

welcome here Ben and I have to saw awwww about the new pup
I used to have a pure dobie that I rescued, he was great I love the breed.I would prolly say be careful about the name Woody, I am sure a lot of people would make a different kind of fun with that name. *lol* I like Clyde though, it's a good strong name and I am truly looking forward to more pictures as he is growing up

I was thinking this too.

Hello Ben & welcome to df. Sorry to hear about Oskar, but congrats on the new pup, I can never wait to get another dog after loosing a much loved dog, like skunkstripe said you can't replace the one you lost, but you can make room for more in your heart.

Of your name choices I like Archie. I also rather like Tyler.

Hiya

What health checks should I expect to have done for a 200 puppy, hip and eye scores? What else - you've got me worried now.

Both parents are Kennel club registered but I don't know what that really means. When I bought Oskah I didnt have any checks done but I only paid 20 for him (to cover the food).

I need to do some research.....

Cheers

Ben

Tyler is a good name... Thanks!

What about Furio? I always liked that name after watching The Sopranos...
