Hello Keith and

I bet you're excited, puppies can be a tremendous amount of fun! Do please have a look at our FAQ section as there is plenty of good information there to get you started.

PS I moved your post out to its own thread so your question would get a little more attention.

Hi Keith and welcome Your going to have a world of fun with your pup, i bet! Im sure you'll get lots of replies regarding food, but as your an englander i would personally recommend Burns pet food, but you can have a read for yourself here http://www.burnspet.co.uk/ i know my two never leave a morsel! from me and Jake (Irish Water Spaniel)

Have a good time on the forum, just jump right in.

Looking forward to more posts about your Springer girl Sam.

If I were you, I'd ask the breeder what feed she is getting when you pick her up and continue with that for a while. Springers have HUGE amounts of energy. But provided they have plenty of exercise they are very biddable dogs.

This is one of Jake's friends. He swims with her at the river. However, she is extremely shy and always defers to Jake (don't know why 'cos he's a big wuss). She comes from working lines and has grown from a wriggly puppy to the glorious girl she is today.

You are at Redcar so you've got access to the sea. Most spaniels love the water.

So just ask away, any questions. There's bound to be someone on here who can help you.

Hiya and welcome to the forum. Springers make fantastic pets. I have a nearly 5 year old sprocker ( half cocker and half springe ) he is so layed back and was so easy to train, his name is Freckel. I also have a 2 year old english springer called Jess she on the other hand has a very stuben streak but is coming along great. I give both my dogs lots of exercise and they love it while out there running around like crazy, but at home they settle down and i've never had any problems with them being hipper. so enjoy your puppy your going to have great fun and have a best friend for life. Any questions ask away we have lots of people on here with a wealth of knowledge.

Hi Keith

I have 2 springers the oldest one Roxy was 1year old in Dec.and Tina will be 1year old on the 31st may.We feed them Burns but I would stick to the food the breeder is feeding Sam for a few weeks until she is used to being away from her mum.
You will have lots of fun with your pup enjoy her.Springers are very quick with training and just love the water

Hello & welcome to df. The most important thing you can do for a new puppy is socialise it to all the things & different kinds & ages of people it will meet & experience for the rest of her life. Can't wait to see pics.
