Default Another newbie

Hi

I have 2 dogs, one old Border Collie called Tess who will be 13 years old in May (we lost her litter sister 3 years ago) and have recently acquired a rescue pup who we have called Sam.

Sam is the reason I have joined as I havent had a pup in such a long time I have forgotten what it was like! Plus I have never had a rescue dog before!

Sam is approx 9 mths old and a Border Collie cross. No idea what he is crossed with but he has rather big paws!!!

We have had him since mid January. I am currently trying to crate train him (again new concept to me, never did this before) and teach him that he needs to come back when off the lead (also, again, foreign to me as my old dog and her sister loved to play fetch and would always come back, Sam just wants to grab the ball and leg it as he loves to be chased by the old dog lol).

I think I am going to be asking LOTS of questions!!! My mums answer to the problems we are having with him (usual pup things really) is to send him back!!! I just can't do that, it wouldn't be fair on the little fella.

I do however want/need him to learn some of our house rules!!!

Linda xxx (Also a Naval wife with 2 boys aged 6 and almost 9)

Hi Linda and welcome to the forum I think it's fantastic you've taken on a rescue dog, they are so very deserving and rewarding in the end. There are so many knowledgeable people on here i'm sure all your questions can be answered and Sam will turn out just great
