Default New Dachshund owner

Hello! I'm a new member to the forum and my wife and I have a 10-month old black/tan long-haired miniature dachshund named Holly (we got her just before Christmas). She is the sweetest little thing you could ever imagine and she has a beautiful coat. She has several prize-winning show dogs in her bloodline but we're not into the whole dogshow thing.

We also have two other miniatures in the family: a red smooth (8 yrs old) and an english cream long (5 months old). Both of them belong to my in-laws. My wife and I are planning on getting another miniature in the near future.

If there is one piece of advice I have to give when it comes to dachshunds, it's to give them PLENTY of exercise. They are known to be mischievous if they get bored and it also helps keep their muscles toned which can greatly reduce the risk of back problems later on.

hi, I also have a black and tan wire haired dachshund named Sgt. Schultz. He does some tricks but mainly they involve begging for people food by standing up... We think he has OCPPD (Obsessive Compulsive Pillow Pushing Disorder) because he likes to burrow under all the couch coushins in the house and push them on the floor.
