Default Greetings, from the not so frozen north!

I'm brand new to this corner of the block. I was invited to join by Sugardog. This place looks pretty neat! I am a lifelong dog owner, meaning I do not recall a time in my life where my family didn't own a dog. In high school I started my own pack by raising my first pup on my own, Calypso my Shetland Sheepdog, reached her 12th year this last spring. When my husband and I got married he had a younger Brittany Spaniel called Mya, she's now a sweet 7 year old darling with sad brown eyes. We decided to add a Border Collie to the mix and picked up Ashenpaw about 3 years back... he'll be 4 in February. These three have been a fantastic mixture and they've been great ambassadors of the dog world, and we adore sharing our house with these furry friends. They live in our 2 story house on our smaller lot in city limits... now I know it's shocking to hear of a Border Collie being content inside and not out in the country fields... but Ash is a bit of a couch potato prone to fits of obsessive fetching! That and his daily tussle up and down the steps seems enough to spend both of their energy! The little ol' biddy Calypso is our Beta dog, though we have seen her paw hold slowly slipping as Ash sees a need to take it over. But, Calypso is not about to surrender yet! It's been interesting to observe the pack order shifting, luckily my husband and I are the unquestioned pack leads, which has enabled us in combination with some positive training methods to keep a happy healthy family in our house!

So, that's a gist of it, I am a seasoned dog owner with a science degree, I love to share what I have learned, and pick up new things to try. We are never to old to learn... for the more we learn the wider the horizons are!

I look forward to meeting more enthusiasts here!

Thanks for the warm welcomes! I finally got it to post the picture I slid together of my dogs in my signature. So, my group is visible below on each of my posts. Now, I have a lot of reading to do!

Already done. In fact, I just saw Mya pop up on the random pics at the top! I have 9 pictures up at the moment, and will select more to add in the future... including shots of them as pups!
