Default Hi from Biggin Hill, England

Hi there.
I'm Slim (nick name obviously LOL) and I have two border collies; Chishii & Mist.
Sadly I recently lost my older collie (SHUNKA) at 11.5 from an extremely rampant cancer. From diagnosis to his needing to be euthanised was less than 4 weeks. The cancer attacked his urethra, his nasal cavities and his bones and he just wasted away. At no time did he cease to be the wonderful, loving friend he'd always been.
This picture was taken 4 weeks before I lost him.

Chishii is Shunka's son. His mother was Flug who I sadly lost from old age (17) in february this year.
Mist is a rescue 4 year old tri colour border collie. He's had a bad life and his behaviour can demonstrate this. At the moment I am spending an incredible amount of time attempting to get him to even get in my car! He seems to just hate the concept of setting foot in it.
Here's the trio just before I lost Shunka. Reading from the top we have Shunka, Chishii and, on the floor, Mist.

So there we are.
Take care all

Slim Haines

Hello Masterice and

We are lucky your found us! What beautiful pictures of your babies! It is terribly sad to lose a beloved dog like that, I am crossing my fingers that we are finished with cancer as far as my Golde is concerned, but we have quite a few members who know exactly how you feel.

Default Thank you all

Thank you all for your kind words.
To be honest the loss of Shunka was made worse for me by my own ill health. I have spent this year being investigated for cancer myself.
I have a totally dead lower spinal vertebra and it should have been a secondary cancer according to the doctors.
It had caused me to be partially paralysed and with several other nasty effects.
However so far after 4 MRI scans, 2 CT scans, 1 bone scinigraphy scan, 1 PET scan, 3 ultrasound scans, 6 biopsies and numerous blood & urine tests they are still no nearer a diagnosis.
As much as I love my other terrors Chishii and Mist, my SHUNKA was the dog who understood me and my periods of sadness.
He gave his time to sit with me when I was in terrible pain and unable to move. He would climb on the bed with me and just watch me to check I was ok.
Damn but I so miss him......
I may be a big, mohawk haircut wearing, tattooed and pierced biker but it doesnt stop me from feeling bottomless-pit sadness and loneliness at the loss of a special being like Shunka was.
Thank you all on Dog Forum for being the people who understand.
