Default My Boxador

I have had my Phoebe since November of last year ('06) and I just wanted a place to brag on her!

When I started calling her a "Boxador" people would laugh. I must admit that I meant it as a joke but I have since seen the name listed as a somewhat recognized mix. She is at best guess (we got her from the shelter) a boxer/lab mix. She has a slightly longer coat than a boxer but has the markings and chest of a boxer. She has webbed toes so I know she is mixed with some kind of water dog. She is very affectionate and is the smartest dog I have ever owned. I was a skeptic about getting a mixed breed because "you never know what you are getting" but I must say, my prejudice was misplaced! Phoebe couldn't be a better playmate for my children (4 and 7) and she still thinks she is a lap dog, albeit a 60 lb one!

Anyway, it never fails on walks in the park that someone comments on how handsome and strong she looks. When a child wants to pet her, she instinctively lays flat on the ground and allows the child to approach, much to the amazement of the understandably protective moms. Phoebe has a commanding presence with her size and stance but she LOVES attention and will lay down and wag her tail to get it! She has had no formal training but has caught on quickly to teaching and will follow the normal sit, stay, laydown, play dead and heel commands.

Thanks for providing a proud dog owner the place to brag about his mixed-breed baby.

She makes me think of a pittbull.
Very pretty face(I don't see any lab,in her face).
As for web feet, many breeds have them.

Hi IBLUEBY and
Love the picture and the description!
Sometimes we will never know what is in the mix, but "Boxador" sounds cute. She does look like a stunning girl!

Thanks for the comments! I have entertained the pitt theory as well. I had a couple of pitts growing up, great dogs! Short of a DNA test I will never know (and don't really need to) but Boxador sounded better then Pittador so I am sticking to it. lol

Well I tried the DNA test and Zircie (white dog in my avatar) was a little too tough for them so they said that they would re-run the test this fall.
You could try that if you don't mind spending $70.

Good idea. I don't mind the $70 but it isn't really important, just that burning curiosity that mixed owners all have.

Vet's best guess she is now about 10 months old. We got her when she was less than 10 weeks.

Welcome!

She is gorgeous! Boxador is such a cute name. I have a name like that for my black Lab mix, but I only joke with it as I don't really know exactly what mix she is (but Lab is for certain ).
