I know I shoot from the hip, I'm sorry, thanks for the gentle rebuke. I'll try and be more tolerant, but you will be gathering that I am passionate about anything to do with wolfdogs and hate it when people think that somehow dogs and wolves are separate species.
Apologies to anyone I may have caused offence to! I am an old bossy britches from England, but mean no harm ... promise ! ![]() ![]() |

This is an interesting thread!
Bugle in response to your question about the intelligence, I believe that the poster was responding to a link posted earlier. The article from the link stated that wolves have the intelligence of a 12 year old, while dogs only have the intelligence of a 3 month old! I don't think anybody was saying wolves and their crosses were dumb, just that dogs are probably smarter than a 3 month old. |

Very interesting thread. I know of a CoyotexDog- but due to the want to run with the wild, it has to be kept in a run. Very sad to see such a gorgeous animal always locked up. Not an aggressive side to it.
Hubby and I have a soft side for Coyotes. They are so freakin' intelligent. We have decided that if we ever come across one that needs help, we will be more than willing to bring it in to our care to have access to vet services. |

Hi Pachel, but I read it that the poster was thinking that it was ridiculous that a wolf had the intelligence of a 12 year old, not that it was ridiculous that there was such a great disparity between the intelligence of a wolf and the intelligence of an "ordinary" dog. I hate saying that, because no dog is ordinary, but you know what I mean.
It certainly would be ridiculous to say that an ordinary dog's intelligence is 1) so different from his wolfy cousin and 2) so low. I disagree totally with both statements. Apologies if I'm being thick - I'm not as clever as a wolf or a wolfdog, that's for sure. Mine ran rings round me sometimes! ![]() |

Mojo: how interesting ... but how sad the poor dog has to be kept locked up. What about working him in harness like they do with mals who are notorious for running and running and not coming back if allowed off-leash?
