Default What breed is this puppy mixed with?

Hello,

I am trying to find out what breed this puppy is mixed with. He was available for adoption at a Rescue shelter a couple of weeks ago and has since been adopted. His caregivers at the shelter him and his puppy siblings were staying at stated that the mother was a white Maltese but the father's breed is unknown. My guess is that he was possibly a Chihuahua or one of the Terrier breeds. Any ideas? Also if you've seen or know or anyone who breeds puppies like this, I would greatly appreciate the information. I am looking to adopt one soon in the near future. Thanks!

Welcome to Dog Forum! It's hard to tell with a puppy. Generally you have to wait until they are older. If you can afford to get a DNA test done on the one you want to adopt then you will have a better idea. A little can have multiple fathers I think.

Welcome to the forum. Bigboy and techie are both correct about figuring out the puppy background.

Welcome! As others have said, it can be hard to tell when they are puppies but as they age you might be able to tell by physical features that become more known or even by some traits they show.

If you want a mixed breed, I'd suggest you look in shelters and rescue groups-they have a lot of mixed breed dogs/puppies there! You might just see another one in the future that grabs your attention as much as this little guy did(even if it's not like this one)!
