Hey all...I'm new here, so hope I'm doing this correctly. Misha is my 9 year old sweetie and I have been desperate to find out her breed mix. I have recently been having her hair cut as my husband did it on a whim and she liked it. Normally, she has a double coat, the outer of which is wiry and long. She has an under bite and is super intelligent (I'm not just a proud momma...she really is). Any advice or conversation would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum from me and my gang.
She looks like a Chi cross perhaos JRT or Yorkie to me, but I asm sure someone else will come along and see a different mix anyhow just continue to cherish and enjoy her no matter what mix she is as it is very difficult as Skunkstripe and others on here will tell you to find out what mix is there,

Hi DottieB and welcome to the forum.
![]() I'm not good at identifying toys - and if Misha doesn't have her natural coat that makes it very hard. How much does she weigh? Size, build and ear type are the better clues to use. If you are truly desperate to know the breed mix there are companies now marketing DNA tests for breed analysis. Some use a cheek swab you do yourself while others use blood which has to be drawn by a vet.

I saw a Cairn/Chi/Shih Tzu X that looked similar to her once.

Thanks to all of you...I am not desperate enough to have a DNA test. She's so incredible and we love her to pieces, so it's not necessary, but we are curious. For "skunkstripe" - she weighs about 5 kgs, normally has long, wiry hair (pics before cut are on my profile) and is about 16 inches from shoulder to tail. She has no tail, but I suspect it was cropped before we adopted her. She was in a little hovel in Morocco and the guy swears she is from Italy, but who knows. She's now ours and she's amazing. Her ears are long, like a Chihuahua and are very expressive...you can understand everything she's feeling with those ears. They also have very soft fur on them. She's a big shedder, has short legs and long body. She's very expressive vocally, but not a barker or a yapper. She's also a bit neurotic...I hate to say it. She won't eat if I'm not home and disappears into her kennel or the dirty laundry basket, even from other loving family members, if I'm not there and goes berserk when I get home. As a side note to her vocal ability, she chased two bad guys out of our house (specifically my daughter's bedroom) in the middle of the night while we were sleeping. She's the only one who heard them and she reacted...they ran.
Would love to hear your ideas. Thanks for all the replies...how fun! Here she is with, funnily enough, my neighbors dog. Misha is on the right...being a bit snobby with her friend. Mish and Chibi.jpg Last edited by DottieB; 01-22-2009 at 03:55 PM.. Reason: Add picture |

DottieB. Misha is very cute and looks a bit like Little Lucy. Lucy is a chi/pug cross with a long wirey coat and an underbite! She is 7 lbs. and she does the exact same thing with her ears. They are very expressive and she can move them all around it seems, not just up or down. One thing she doesn't do is shed but she is also a bit neurotic and the love of my life!! I have other picture on the gallery and a couple on my profile when she was younger. Hope you enjoy the forum. ![]()
