Default Did anyone have a 'designer' breed before they were 'designer'?

I'm just wondering, as now they cost the earth, (apart from my friends poodle Yorkie ) but did anyone ever have any of the crosses that are now going for mega bucks before the rage caught on, and if you did what crosses did you have (as you can tell I'm nosie but its just something that could be intresting, to see the dogs before the names that a lot do make me chuckle lol)?

Your were the best dog that anyone could wish for, I hope that you are enjoying yourself at the bridge. You were the perfect dog in a imperfect world, and I hope that you feel better where you are now, and please forgive me.

Well i wouldnt call him a "designer" dog but hes defo an original.. never heard of another one. He wasnt bred on purpose..i worked and stayed on a farm years back and the Tiny jack russel was in season so i locked spaniel in house and took her out to do horses with me as she was an amazing ratter and i was going to the straw barns... after about 20 min i noticed she had vanished.. found them together.. him looking very sheepish and happy in the hay shed.. he had managed to escape thru the tiniest of windows lol... Bre-ach was the result. He is a very clever wee dog and the best hunter i know

Yeah had a rescued snoodle, but wasn't called that then. It was just a Schnauzer and Poodle cross. Snoodle to me sounds like something you blow out of your nose.

There used to be a dog down the street when I was really young that was a Peke cross Shih Tzu. I've heard now they are quite the hit and are called Pikachus.

ETA or maybe it was a Peke x Chihuahua? Argh I can't remember I just know they are called Pikachus now.
