Default Calling crosses by names.

I've been thinking that I have been a hypocrite recently, I find it silly the names of some of the dogs that are coming through, and find it silly that people are calling them anything other then what they are but then I call mine a Lurcher and a Longdog, how hypocritical is that

Your were the best dog that anyone could wish for, I hope that you are enjoying yourself at the bridge. You were the perfect dog in a imperfect world, and I hope that you feel better where you are now, and please forgive me.

I wouldn't be that hard onmyself or anyone else who does it.

Others may not agree with me but I think it's one thing to call a dog say a "Labradoodle" because you don't feel like saying "A cross between a Labrador and a Poodle" (which is a mouthful), and quite another to call a Labradoodle or a Puggle or whatever a "breed." A mix is a mix but I think if you know what's in the mix it's helpful because you can understand health and behavior better. If you don't know what's in the mix you can say things like "mutt" or "mystery dog." I don't agree with calling any mixed breed or crossbreed a mutt because you lose what I think is valuable information.

That makes sense, I've been thinking about it and its more the cost of these mixes that I have a problem with, but the cost of both of mine only come up to £200

Yes Chaz but Lurchers and Longdogs have been in existence for a long time are not designer breeds like some of these others with the fancy names (and fancy prices) are so I prefer to call the so called designer breeds crossbreeds which is what they are at the end of the day.

Yep, Lurchers and Longdogs have been 'known' for so so long, and they were crossed for a reason (not to create a silly name, like I swear some 'poos' are). I think there's a difference between a Lurcher/Longdog and a 'poo'.

I've always called my dog a boxer/lab mix. What would I call that if it was combined into one name? I don't think it's been turned into a designer dog yet, so I could start a new trend! A loxer, laxer, boxab...none of these sound very cute, now do they?

I only ever had X breed dogs as a child & young adult. April & Tilba was/is my only pure bred dogs. Whenever anyone asked my father what breed they were he would say Heinz 57 variety.

I've heard of a Boxador before advertised almost £500 can't believe people would pay that, but I've never seen one.
