Terrier racing man (TRM) "so whats your dog then"

Little girl (LG) proudly says "It's a Jacket"

TRM "I never heard of one of those is it a cross breed"

LG "no its a desiner breed, daddy was a jack russell and mummy a whippet"

TRM "oh a desiner breed ay, in my day a dog like that would be called a lurcher a cross breed for hunting rabbits."

LG "OH NO he never hert a little bunny, he a good dog, mummy and daddy payed £700 for him."

TRM shakes his head, then turning to the parents ask "where you get the puppy from"
They tell him "oh some big desiner pet shop, they had all sorts of posh new breeds, like cokapoo's and pee a poo's ect."

TRM "so you never saw where the pups lived or mum and dad"

Childs parent "no, but they come from realy good parents, we have papers to say so"

TRM looks at his suposed "designer breed" in the back of his van, and wonders wheather he sould tell the little girls parents if they had come to him they could have seen mum and dad that had been health tested and would have only sold the pups to them for £150.

TRM see them again the next year at the same show, but this time dogless. He ask where there buddle of joy was. Aparently puppy had to be PTS at 11 months old due to some sort of hereditry, what ever that was illness. But it was ok they where going back to the posh shop tomorra to pick out another one.

Haha there was someone trying to give away JRTs cross Greyhounds before, the mixes people come up with lol.

Your were the best dog that anyone could wish for, I hope that you are enjoying yourself at the bridge. You were the perfect dog in a imperfect world, and I hope that you feel better where you are now, and please forgive me.

I have no problem with calling cross breeds a different name if it makes life easier. Everyone knows what a labradoodle is and its quicker than saying labrador retreiver x standard poodle! However if you are going to call it something so obscure it will take 15mins to explain, then whats the point??LOL

At the end of the day no matter what name they are given they are crosses, nothing against crosses, but with the fancy names comes the fancy price tags, therefor I do have a problem with the fancy names which encourage buyers to pay OTT for a crossbreed of which there are so many in rescues looking for homes.

"A rose by any other name... " They are what they are: crossbreeds. Mixes. Mutts. Not a thing wrong with it here... cept the pricetag and belief that they are a 'truebreed' with given traits.

why can't people say "my dog it's a lab poodle cross" it was fine in the old day before the designer breed fad.

as fare as I am concerned these names are just made up to make them sound like a new breed to sell them for silly money.

Jacket? Lol! It's a mutt!

Backyard breeders: quit crossing random breeds on purpose and giving them stupid names so you can charge exorbitant prices. Please and thank you.
