Hi,
are there any other Springer/Labrador cross owners on here? Just want to ask what they are like when they grow up (if the Lab in them actually lets them grow up that is!!). I've read they are brilliant pets but I want to hear from actual experience. ![]() |

I don't own a springer/lab cross but I think that every cross will come out atleast a little bit different. One springer/lab might turn out to be more like a springer and another springer/lab cross might turn out to be more like a lab. I know how it is to be sooo curious about what your puppy is going to look like and turn out like. But be patient and enjoy her being a puppy, it goes by so fast. My charlie girl is turning one tomorrow...it seems like just yesterday she was 9 weeks old.
P.s. Does she have the lab webbed toes? If so, she'll probably be in love with water. My pup doesn't look much like a lab but she has those lab toes and I can't keep her out of the water! heh. |

you maybe better asking on a hunting gundog forum, as I know this cross is popular with the hunting shooting people, apparently they make good all round working gundog.

My friend had one and he was an amazing dog! I've had a springer spaniel and he was a wonderful dog with the most loving personality I've ever met in a dog, I've known a few labs that I adored too, so to me you have a wonderful cross there.
Springers and labs have pretty similar personalities in my experience, both love to play, both love to swim and both are big goofballs who love to be loved. I think that whichever breed comes out the strongest, you'll have an fantastic dog.

i have a lab x - its suspected to be crossed with a spaniel of some sort - as she grows older the features are sharpening slightly and the ears not so dominant, i.e. the face not so chunky labish if you know what i mean. however, the begaviours are very lab. she is 1 year old now.

Gundogs are goofy and you have a combination of both there. They never grow up - and they really do need a job. Ive got friends with lab/springer combinations and they are excellent friendly dogs. The obvious rule applies with these dogs - exercise, exercise, mental and physical stimulation and you'll have a dog that is eager to please and loves to learn.
It would be cruel to them psychologically if they didn't swim. They iive to swim; so try and make sure your dog does what it was bred to do. You need to be boss though. |

Thanks Jake,
I'm really lucky, my house is sandwiched between a large field & some dark, murky woods, each less than 10 metres in opposite directions & only 15 mins drive from great dog walking locations which include plenty of water ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
