Hi
We currently have a greyhound bitch called flo. She is calm, tolerant, sociable with people and dogs and quick? We are considering getting her a companion and have seen a cross breed at the Blue Cross which we may adopt. It is a 9 month old bitch, lab/dalmation cross. We have introduced them to each other and so far so good. Does anyone know anything about this cross breed and their temprament? Any comments would be gratefully received. Thanks |

Sorry as it is a crossbreed it is difficult to say, the labrador traits may come out on top or it could be the dalmation traits on top or a mixture of both.
All I can say is that my hounds are like your Flo, and I do know that my friend's Dalmation is a bouncy dog and excitable, but as I said at the start with a cross between Dalmation and Lab, just don't know what the adult will be like. Because it is a cross I really don'tthink anyone will be able to tell you what the temperament will be like, you have seen the dog and are in a better position to judge than we who have not made her accquantance. Sorry I have not really been of much help, good luck with whatever decision you come to.

As with all crossbreeds one can never predict their temprements. She could have more of a Lab personality or more of a Dalmation personality. However as she is still relatively young, you should be able to work with her and train her to be more what you would like.
Luckily both Labradors and Dalmations are friendly and outgoing, so you should end up with a great dog ![]() p.s. I am owned by 2 sofa hoggers too!

Hi chellaston and welcome to the forum.
Labs are also bouncy dogs so I would expect that a mix between a Lab and a Dal would be a bundle of energy. But as Borzoi Mad has said, there are no guarantees when breeds are mixed. Perhaps a reliable way to find out is to ask someone at the Blue Cross where she is now.

Hi
Well Flo (our greyhound) has been introduced to Rosie (Lab/Dal) at the rescue centre and has had further visits. The signs so far are good. They seem very comfortable in each others company on and off the lead. Flo's calm nature seems to be having a calming affect on Rosie, although Rosie's playful puppy side has also initiated play in Flo which was fun to watch. I think we are all well and truly hooked and subject to our home check going ok (this Friday), Rosie will become part of the family. I'm not sure things will ever be the same around the house but looking forward to it. I'll let you know how things go - should be fun! ![]() |

How did the homecheck go? I hope it went well for you all. New additions are so exciting, and adding rescuing into the bargain just sweetens the recipe even more!
The best of luck to you all. xx
