I wouldn't. It would be one thing if their weight was reversed, but since the female is the one that has to whelp the litter, your chance get greater that the pups will be too big to whelp, the more weight difference their is. More so when working with mixed breeds, because you currently have four different sets of traits that will be meshed even more. You may have very large puppies or very tiny, but there is no way to determine that before hand. If you really want to breed them, the only safe means of whelping the litter is by a preset c-section with your vet.
I will not lie to you, I have seen an 8lb mix whelp part retriever puppies. She survived, but watching her, it was definitely a miracle. We were sure we were going to lose her. I have also seen a 5lb dog need surgery to whelp puppies from a 12lb male. You just never know. |

You would be putting your female at high risk for death by doing such a breeding.
What is your reason for breeding and why would you want to bring more mixed breed puppies into the world while millions are being put to death in shelters every day? Please familiarize yourself with the tragedy of the pet overpopulation problem before thinking of breeding. Become part of the solution, not part of the problem! http://www.sniksnak.com/overpopulation.html http://www.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/CCAB/overpop.htm http://www.adoptapet.com/population.html

thank you for all the concerns. the reason that i want to breed these two dog because i really like them. they are such a wonderful dog with great temper, well behave and especially they are so adorable. i know that dog don't live that long with us, so i want to have their pups so that i can hold them and love them. i have many, many friends that are getting in line just to have their puppy. i found home for them all already, even way before the puppies are even exist. now, i know the risk, so before doing anything i will ask the vet and make sure everything will be ok.
thank you Last edited by dinghuep; 02-25-2008 at 08:57 PM.. |

sorry to sound like this but when 1000's of dogs are being PTS every year because there not anothe homes. That is not a good nothe reason to breed, I even go so far as saying it is a very selfish reason. every sweet cute little puppy that comes out of your bitch will murder one already born in rescue.

Hi and Welcome to the dog Forum.
I would not put her at risk to breed and have puppies, she is so cute. Why do it anyhow. Such sweeties as pets, breeding is very risk..ae!! I would not chance it with my pets. I am a breeder and they are conditioned for this and things happen, I would hate to hear you lost your female due to breeding her. Good luck and rethink about this.... ![]()

good morning to all of you
I know all the concerns are right and i agree that i wouldn't want to put my baby girl at risk. this is my first time taking care of these gorgious babies, so i don't have enough experience. My husband and I already rethink about this, and all of my friends are disappointed that they will not have the puppies. we will not breed them. by the way, did you see my new photo of my new bichon pup. his name is little tomi, and i got him for my 5 years aniversary. my husband used to be a dog hater, but now he is a dog lover. he thinks that these babies are very cute and sweet. they are our sweetest babies. thank you, it is so nice to recieve your mail.
