Default Boxer and St.Bernard

Hi

I am considering purchasing a dog, a mixed breed, half boxer, half st. bernard. has anyone ever seen one of these? How much space would I need for this type dog and is there any special requirements which he might need.

Thanks in advanced
oop

Space? Are you able to give the dogs daily walks and lots of exercise? I have a great dane and she loves to run but she is very quiet after a good walk.
I have never seen this combo if you get the pup post pics please

Hi dlambertz

Yeah, daily walks and exercise is no problem. I have about a quarter of an acre for him to play in during the day, I'm just wondering if this will be big enough when he grows to full size.
I'm getting some pictures of him tomorrow so I'll post them, he looks more like a St. Bernard than a boxer apparently. I'm just a bit concerned as to how big he will evetually become and maybe if there are some other facilities or special needs that he may require.

Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum. Great to have you with us. I think that sounds like an adorable mix. I'd love to see pics.

As long as you're willing to take your dog for exercise, your yard size doesn't much matter. With any dog, especially large ones, training is key. I suggest you sign up for obedience classes too. Good luck!

Welcome to DogForum.org. Great to have you join us.

This cross will most likely be around 80-90 lb. I personally have never this cross. I agree with all the above statements . You may even consider putting your dog into agility for the fun of it.

Welcome to the Dog Forum. Have fun. This sure is a different cross than we usually hear about. I had a St. Bernard, I had to keep water everywhere for they drink and drull. Do not know being a cross if this will be? Very friendly and great temperment she was, this should be also both being docile dog breeds.
Exercise and obedience if important, but keeping a puppys lessons short, their attention span is highly short for a while. I would just teach basic things myself now and when a couple months older get into a class. It is great socialization the first time around. Enjoy your new pal.
