Hi I've just joined and posted in new member area. Just wondered if anyone else has got Ute's. I've got 2 Anoushka and Tokota. Their original lines go back to Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute and German Shepherd Dogs. Look forward to chatting to you all.

Your dogs are very nice. This is the first I've seen them. I'd love to hear more about them too.

Hi and Thanks everyone for your kind comments.
Utonagan (means Spirit of the Wolf) are bred to look like a wolf but with no wolf content. They are very similar to the Northern Inuit Dogs, and did start out from the same stock. As with alot of breeds people had different ideas of how the breed should look and a separation was made. Northern Inuits are still a very strong and stunning breed here in the UK. My dogs are from Sulin lines one that comes from the original lines. They are quite head strong dogs. They always want to play and are very strong. Anoushka is the one with the white mark on her head. She stands around 25 1/2 inches to her shoulder. Tokota is her younger half brother and stands around 28 inches to the shoulder. Their personalities are opposites. Anoushka would be the first to meet a stranger and want a fuss whereas Tokota is more reserved and would suss them out first. Tokota is fairly easy to train cause he likes his treats! There is a society website www.utonagan.co.uk and a forum that alot of owners use www.destrucadog.co.uk/forum/ This breed still have a long way to go before they get KC recognision, but I'm so glad I chose them. |

Welcome!
I've heard of Utonagans before, but I haven't looked into them. They are stunning though! They sound like a very interesting breed. ![]()
