Default Coonhounds what's your favorite and why

I want to get a couple of coonhounds. And I am interested in what other people think and what there favorite breed is. And what is a good starter breed. And maybe some stories about your dogs. Also should I get only one breed or should I get two different breeds. From the research I have done I think I would want a redbone coonhound, treeing walker coonhound or a plott hound. What do u guys think of these dogs and what is your experiences with these breeds.

Are you looking for a Hound as a pet or for hunting? I think the Redbones make the best pet and I like the look of them. My sister had one for a number of years. My niece's husband hunts and they used to have treeing walkers but have switched to Plott hounds as they are smaller and are good hunters. I did have a Treeing Walker for a while but finally rehomed her with a hunter as she was impossible to keep in but was a smart, good natured dog.

I would use them for hunting. I was thinking about a redbone or a plott hound or both. But I want to get some people's opinions and thoughts.

Our favorite is American Black and Tan Coonhounds. Our boy is a mix, but know people who have purebreds. They are great family members and get along with people and other animals in the family, as well as hunters for both small and large prey. There are sites on Facebook where you can get a real feel for the breed from owners. We don't hunt, but from what I know, they can love being inside with the family and still be good hunters. Check them out.

I think a senior dog is the best for your first. Not the best for hunting though

A Puppy sounds good, but they do take some time training, that said though one is 2 years old the other is one Prehaps a 3 or 4 year old would be better as a older dog can help keep in check the younger ones As for choice of breed well I have a staffy bull terrier very good dogs in the right hands but do need some one who is able to handle them through training etc they aren't for the faint hearted. They are very good with kids and other dogs too providing early socialisastion was started at 8 weeks old. and are very loyal/loving too

staffy bull terriers are cool but I want another hunting dog. I want a coonhound but I won't be able to get a dog for awhile so I am trying to figure out what people's favorite coonhound or another types of hunting dog that I could use on. Big game or coon and coyotes. The pups that I have are a Brittany and a golden. And I have had the Brittany scince he was 6weeks old and I got the golden when she was a couple of months old. Thanks for the infomation.

Staffordshire Bull Terriers aren't coonhounds, but a lot of people use them to hunt hogs and they're good at it. You can watch videos on YouTube if you like.
