![]() What Lilac said about heelers is really true. I have known some people to have friendly ones, but my mixed heeler is standoffish too. And I am definately HIS person.

![]() Blu is most definitely reserved side with strangers and moody gets around other dogs. As we live in near the busiest boutiques, restaurants and cafes etc where so many dog friendly people are interested in Blu as she seems like crazy mutt to them not knowing what breed she is. Some people aren't seem to care so much the fact that she is not very comfortable with new surrounding, ignore the fact that she also seems very nervous. People still continuously want to pad blu which we never understood that selfish behavior. It wouldn't matter so much if we live in country side where there isn't much activeis with strangers or other dogs. But we can't avoid them as we live in major city. But again, she is making some improvements each day, me and my husband need to be patient with blu as progress may take up to 3-6 months. So we will keep the positive momentum going for Blu!!!

![]() Tell people that she has a very contagious form of ringworm... That USUALLY gets hand retracted QUICKLY..
Or that she just go diagnosed with scabies, or whatever, find a bad skin disease that can go on people too and tell them this is what your dog have.. People do not touch after that... when they reach out say don't she's contagious.. lol Yes I have been that evil!

![]() I agree with Kaos as well. Nervous dogs do not potty very quickly. If she hadn't pooped in 3 days that is a bit concerning though. You may want to consider moving the appointment sooner if you can if she doesn't poop. Are you sure she isn't pooping somewhere without you knowing it or hiding it in the house?
Also have your vet check and verify her age. Shelters can be funny sometimes about what they say is the age and breed of the dog. In my experience they sometimes stretch things to make the dog more adoptable. People don't often want older dogs, so sometimes the age gets a few years off. If she is older, then that may be why she is more of a lounger too

![]() Blu just pooped!! Oh my!! When she does it, she knows i'm going to give her big reward so she gets super excited. She either poop once a day or longest time she waited was about 36 hours, like today. So i'm very thankful that she finally pooped!
![]() I got some organic canned pumpkin today, I will certainly try that with dry food tonight as her poop seems to be bit hard. When we took blu for physical exam, vet seems to agree with age. He also mentioned that going to the bathroom once a day isn't abnormal behavior for Blu considering her environment has been completely changed. Being outdoor dog/possibly chained up at most of time and now she lives inside the apt without yard and moved to city. I also asked the vet if she may had babies as her nipples are bit bigger size compare to other mid size dogs in my knowledge. Vet said some dogs have different sizes of nipples and it doesn't mean she had babies previously. So i'm not sure what to believe.. But as far as i'm concern, she is like a cuddle up chihuahua, definitely not an ACD! ![]() As we have hardwood floor if she pees or poop inside the house, it would be very obvious that she went. And we don't live in a big house and we can spot them very quickly! ![]() I will keep you guys posted it about blood results as well as pumpkin diet! Thanks everyone! x Last edited by Blulosfeliz; 01-10-2013 at 11:03 PM.. |

![]() Hi everyone,
So we got the blood result back from the Vet and blu has low-thyroid. Her result was slightly below the normal. Vet recommended to do another blood test called T4 which provides more accuracy with same blood sample. Both results came back as slightly below normal. My sister in law is a MD who specialize on hypothyroidism and she recommended to wait a few months and do another test before we decide on supplements plan. I also read some online that a low-normal or below-normal level does not mean the dog is hypothyroid, because concentrations below normal are common for many reasons other than hypothyroidism. Having said that, Blu doesn't have any symtoms of dry skin, hair loss, or weight gain which is common symtoms for low-thyroid. Although low-thyroid cause constipation but her constipation can be from many different reason--dry food, environment change etc. So will see... we are planning to wait for a few months and run the same blood work all over again to see if anything changes. Also the pumpkin doesn't seem to help blu to go poop twice a day yet. Although she has been poop once a day and never go over 24 hours. I will continuously feed pumpkin with her dry food though. We will also need to try new dry food to see if that make any improvements. Have a great weekend! x Last edited by Blulosfeliz; 01-17-2013 at 05:46 PM.. |
