Default Do Golden Retrievers have "natural rhythm?"

Ever since I saw this video
http://imageevent.com/ramirezratz/freestyle
I have felt rotten about how talented my dogs are NOT. I mean, somebody worked for hours and hours to be able to do this. The first time I saw it was before I had Sophia, only Zircon, and he is not much for dancing.
But after I got Sophia, I noticed a couple of things. One, she has "moves" very similar to the dog in this video.
Two (and this is the weird one) if there is music on, (and it has to be disco music) and I start dancing around in the house, Sophia will rear up on her hind legs to dance with me. It's like she feels the musics and needs to dance.
Has anybody else ever noticed this about Golden Retrievers??

Loved that vid! Thanks for the great share. I have to say that Ozzy can get in dancing mode when the music is up loud if we're dancing around he'll dance with us but nothing structured like that vid. Ozzy does have a lot of those close-up moves & looks much like that dog in some of the "keeping close" style the way he looks up at me & moves with me. He also loves to slip through my legs.

Wow!!! That was an awesome video! But Skunkstripe, they did say at the start of the vid- "Because we have nothing better to do" LOL Thats probably why he's so trained.

I think the people who "have nothing better to do" are the ones who collect weird videos.
There is a whole 'sport' called "canine freestyle" for people who dance with dogs.
I hunted around and found out that the name of the dog in that "Grease" routine is Rookie. I have a feeling Rookie has crossed the Bridge because there is a tribute here: http://www.caninefreestylemagicmatch.com/
Rookie sure was one heck of a dancer!
I have to admit, there is a Border Collie named "Pepper" who is also pretty good!

Canine freestyle is not only with Goldens, my agility trainer, who breeds aussies, also trains her dogs in freestyle. I'll try and get a vid, she's quite good. Probably some breeds are not as good as others, but I imagine every dog with a 'normal' shape could do that stuff if you had the time to train it. The exceptions would probably dauchhounds and bassets. (and similar shaped dogs)

Freestyle trainers use all sorts of breeds, a lot use collies, this may be because they are easier to train because of their back ground.

THAT is one of my favorite videos! My favorite part is when he comes back- BACKWARDS!!! lol... I love watching free style. There are several good ones.
As far as being a golden trait- I am not sure. I have seen several videos that had all breeds. I use to have a list somewhere.. lol. ( searches the desk..)
