Default A Golden Retriever Retrieving

When Dylan was around a year old, I took him over to my brother's house. While he was snooping around the house, Dylan went upstairs to my brother's bedroom and came down with a shirt. He dropped it on the floor and went back upstairs and came down with my brother's girlfriend's bra. He dropped that on the floor and went back upstairs. This time he came down with both of my brother's slippers. With the slippers hanging from his mouth, he stared at us for a moment and brought the slippers back upstairs, came back downstairs without them, and layed down. I guess the odor from my brother's shoes was too much for him.

I took Dylan swimming at a pond by my landlord's house. While Dylan was wandering around, I decided to take my shoes and socks off to go wading in the water. N0 sooner had I done that, Dylan went and grabbed my socks and ran away with them. Dylan dropped my socks on the grass and started to sniff the scents that were around him. When I went to retrieve my socks, Dylan saw me coming, so he ran and grabbed my socks and ran off again. I couldn't help but break out laughing. This happened about three times and Dylan had me laughing harder each time it happened. I was laughing so hard, I didn't have the energy to try and get my socks back so I just told Dylan to keep them. That happened almost 20 years ago. For all I know, my socks are still out there.

That's funny. Sophia is in the habit of always having something in her mouth, retriever that she is. We're trying to put it to good use by teaching her to fetch hubby's slippers but it's slow going.
Dylan sounds like he was a real character!
