I have bred my shiba female Ruffian , she had 5 pups, they are 8 and 7 years old now, and all still at home with theur owners. I may breed my next dog, but only after she has her CanKC Ch. at leat 1 title other than that, and hapassed her health tests. If I do choose to breed it will be because I have found a great stud dog and because I want a pup from her.

Just to add yes I have rescued shibas as well.

Like some of you, I would never breed. Hypothetically, I would probably breed Pomeranians or Silky Terriers. I'm a sucker for the small breeds.

I was a breeder for over 30 years, but stopped 3 years ago when I realized I could no longer find anyone that had the passion to listen and learn what was necessary for their care, as I had done. The breeds popularity would be their demise and I did'nt want to have to go and take dogs back anymore.
So, I kept what I had and stopped.
Besides the passion for this breed, the reason I undertook breeding was to preserve & maintain a rare bloodline that was passed down to me, from the life's work of a gentleman and his family before him. I was honored to have learned from him, not only about dogs but of life itself...but then to be given his greatest gift...his brood stock...was the most humbling experience of my life and something I will never forget.
If I was to do it all over again....I would'nt change a thing, EXCEPT:
I'd have to go back in time...never in this modern day

Character, courage and loyalty has only one name..
Pit Bulldog

If I were to breed It would probably be boxers. They are so affectionate and fun dogs and loyal. And most of all the puppies are just so dang cute!!

Nope. Many Pembrokes are in fact born with tails, but outside of Europe they are docked to conform to standards. I have seen a few of them and they have gorgeous tails... very foxy. >^_^<

Here is what The Kennel Club in the UK says about the tail:
Quote:
Tail
Short, preferably natural.
Docked: Short.
Undocked: Set in line with topline. Natural carriage above topline when moving or alert.

Eventually, with a great deal of mentoring, I'd like to have my own kennel. I love the kind of dog I have, Keeshonden. (pronounces Kayz-hond-en) and to answer your questions, if I were to breed, it would be what I've got. I don't think I could ever have another kind of dog, 'cause I was raised around them and have never known another kind.

It takes a lot of work to do it right, and you have to make sure your foundation bitch and stud are solid with no health problems and temperment problems.

I have so much to learn, though, that it won't be for a very very long time. I'm just getting started with showing as it is, and I find that somewhat overwhelming.

One of the reasons I came here was in hopes that there would be others here who have keeshonden and can help me along in the process so I don't bug the crap out of my breeder with my constant questions

I think it would have to be staffordshire bull terriers.
