Default Bull Terrier Vs. Doberman

My wife and I are torn between getting a Bull Terrier or a Doberman. We own a male Bulldog who gets along well with other dogs. We have heard mixed things regarding BT's and Dobes getting along with other dogs. Breeders seem to say that both dogs will get along with opposite sex dogs they were raised with. One added that Bull Terriers may become aggressive over food and that it would be best to feed separately to avoid this issue.

Has anyone had both breeds? Also anyone with experience with either breed-did your dogs get along well with other dogs? We would appreciate any info you can provide regarding temperament or experiences with these two breeds,

I haven't owned a Bull Terrier, but I DO own a Dobie. I can say, with both breeds, it's all about socializing. My doberman, whom I got as a puppy, does well with his same sex brother, with fosters in and out of my home, and our Siamese cat who regularly jumps on his head and uses his ears as her own personal chew toy. He loves people, and is a HAM at the dog park, but granted he still barks at others passing by our house. But the difference is, if those people were to actually approach my house, he would most likely lick them to death.

Dobies are very smart. They want to please and learn. But they are also stubborn. My boy will sometimes look at me as if to say "do you really mean that?" and Ill have to give him a look back that says "yes, now drop that toy or your going in time out". Time outs work best with him because ultimately he wants to be by our side, at all times. When I move, he moves. He likes to lean, all 85 pounds of himself against our legs, and goodluck if you invite him over while your on the floor because he will manage to try and think himself a small chihuahua that can crunch all four legs into your lap. And most of all he's goofy. Clutzy when a puppy and still a goof to this day.

I'm not sure about Bull Terriers, but with a Doberman, you need to have firm rules, time to have him/her by your side, and a light mood to laugh at their crazy antics.
