Default Shorty Bull Breed

Has anyone ever heard of a Shorty Bull breed? I came across an ad of Shorty Bull puppies. I have never heard of them.

Quote:
The Shorty Bull is a compact and muscular Bulldog of small stature. The head is round with typical Bulldog features. Eyes set far apart and should not protrude. Jaw should be curved, not straight. Nose should be turned up slightly and may be black or liver colored

The Shorty Bull is a good natured even tempered stable dog.The Shorty Bull is more agile and athletic than the English Bulldog.

The founders of the Shorty Bull are Jamie Sweet and Amy Krogman. The Shorty Bull is a new line of bulldogs who are being bred in the miniature size. Unlike a lot of other bully breeds bred down in size the Shorty Bulldog does not contain Boston Terrier or Pug in it's lines. These dogs are being bred for their working ability and physical traits and not solely on looks.

Monkey I agree. They are a mix of brachy breeds and I haven't seen a legit breeder yet. There is an ad I saw for one breeder not too far from here.

They are being bred for their looks and physical traits not as working dogs. I did see a breeder that does weight pull though. They were not created for work or a specific task.

I was browsing craigslist and came across an ad looking for "pocket pits" and had to go look it up.

They look like a regular staffy, but a couple looked like they had a midget type gene. Sorta like the same mutation that makes Corgis short but long. I wasn't impressed and could only think about the joint problems those dogs were going to have from being so heavy/stocky in combination with midget legs.

After a quick google, looks like "Pocket pits" and "shorty bulls" are practically the same thing...

Sugardog, AACCKK! You got the better of me, and I HAD to do a search on shorty bulls. They are, in my opinion only, ugly little dogs. They have their own club, ABKC. I found a breeder on-line with tons of pictures and videos, and of course, puppies available with a 500 dollar non-refundable deposit. I'm not impressed with the breed at all.

I just realized how thoughtless my post was. I have to apologize to anyone on the forum that may own a shorty bull. Another good reason why I need to think before I post.

Having just googled, they look like they have a similar body shape to Eddie, very stocky but with short flimsy legs - and we all know how well that's turned out for poor Ed, his legs are a mess, they just aren't up to holding that amount of weight

Mel, did you happen to google ABKC? I did. Apparently the American Bully comes in different variations. Standard, Pocket, XL, Extreme, and Classic. The Pocket and Extreme are just a tad over the top for me.

I can't say they are to my taste at all, I always feel desperately sorry for dogs that are heavily exaggerated in any way, bulldogs that are bred to be squat, wide and with little neck just can't have move like a dog should be able to, let alone the breathing difficulties.

My preference is for a 'dog shaped dog' with athletic ability, rather than brute strength though & I really am not a fan of brachycephaylic forms simply because of the way it restricts and limits a dog.
