Exclamation *Groan* Hormonal collie at large again!

I totally forgot how horrendous Simba is when she's in season

I've been trying to walk her so as to avoid other dogs, but it's proving near impossible as they're just everywhere. I can't not walk her because she's bouncing off the walls. Took her out just as it was about to get dark last night, scanned the park for other dog walkers, all clear so let her off (she only goes to the toilet when off lead). Old man walking his border collie (luckily female) in the distance and she was off.... up to this elderly gentleman and 'presenting' to him. Totally ignoring me sprinting behind her screaming 'Simba BISCUITS, come here". (biscuits usually has her sprinting back to me) I wasn't expecting it as her recall is usually excellent, but now at least I know the training lead must be out for now.

"what a friendly dog" he says (if only he knew )

She's eaten a pink feather duster (I returned home to a scene of carnage yesterday), pulled all the shoes out from under the stairs and flung them all over the place (chewed shoes ahoy), torn her bed apart and spent most of last night whining because I wouldn't let her get into bed with me, so she then sulked outside my door.

6am this morning.....howling. Non stop. Opened the back door so she could go and potter about in the garden and go out to find she's trying to push herself through the hedge!

She's driving me insane. She's normally got excellent recall and doesn't harass people, so that's it now. The next 2 weeks at least of hell.

Anyone want a collie for a few weeks?

Mel it will pass! Once you have got Simba's tummy problems sorted ( Not Nellie's ) then you must spay 2 months after her season has finished I think the screaming at Simba even with biscuits won't get her back Try and stay calm. it's not easy i know ATB Mel

Haha, I can't help at all, but I wanted you to know that you make it all sound most amusing. Especially the image of her trying to barge through the hedge.

Poor old Simba. If its any consolation (probably not, actually), Nellie still humps even though she was spayed 6 months ago!

Nellie's first season wasn't too difficult really...it was from a practical point of view (you should have seen the state of our bedding and hers), but apart from presenting to the odd labrador and an elderly Westie, she kept her tarty behaviour to a minimum.

Simba is clearly a total trollop. It will soon be over, then you just have the op to worry about! Perish the thought anyone could ever breed from Simba...meant in the nicest possible way, of course!!

S xx

no worries there, we're putting an end to her bloodline before anyone else suffers!

I was hoping not to have to deal with all this again, it was disappointing not to be able to get her spayed but hopefully once we've got all her test results back and can get some weight on her, we will be able to get it done.

It is messy, that's a really horrible part. She likes to get on the furniture for cuddles of an evening and I'm covering everything with old towels as she's too hairy for the old knickers trick. She has all that cream long fluff on her backside too, which has to be washed daily. Not pleasant.

Gack that must be awful. I can feel for you as we've had two unspayed cats go into heat last week. About the only redeeming feature was that we had the entertainment value of them trying very hard to get a rise out of Brady (who's been neutered), who was more interested in food or getting away from them than any romantic endeavors.

Hopefully she'll be spayed soon and you'll be done with this!

Thanks Kitel, my coping mechanism has always been to make light of what a horror she is.

It's Trollop central in our house, she's pacing up and down, panting heavily and trying desperately to find things to hump. I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that she would let any passing male dog violate her, she's certainly not picky and is 'presenting' to anything with a pulse!

I just hate the trouble it causes, I feel bad walking her and then other peoples' dogs getting wind of her, but it's impossible to completely avoid other dogs around here. If I don't exercise her she'll destroy my house (any my sanity). AAARGH!
